Reward Video Monetization on the Rise

Appodeal recently released a report indicating that in game monetization of video ads within mobile apps in the U.S. has grown significantly vs. prior years. These videos, which are user initiated advertisements giving users the ability to earn in-app rweards in exchanges for viewing video content, have the ability to generate a highly effective eCPM for mobile game developers.

Reward video began rolling out a within the past few years, but it has quickly become popular in the ad tech market; with new offerings by major players like Google and Facebook contributed to eCPM growth. According to the report, some of the top reward video networks include Tapjoy, Unity Ads, and AppLovin.

Regionally, the U.S. continues to lead over other countries with the highest reward video eCPM performance, with averaging $13.75 on iOS and $12.01 on Android. In Europe, reward video average eCPMs were $5.77 on iOS and $2.95 on Android. In Asia, eCPMs averaged $12.32 on iOS and $5.43 on Android for reward videos.
